An Episcopal church built from 1767 to 1773, Christ Church in Alexandria was designed by James Wren and built by John Carlyle. The structure is a brick, two story colonial style church detailed with stone quoins and window surrounds, a hip roof, and a prominent tower that was added between 1785 and 1815. The Church was frequented by George Washington
