On the left, a young woman is preparing for the evening meal in her cabinet de toilette. A chamber maid pulls the laces of her corset tightly, forcing her bosom into an unnatural yet alluring shape, while a potential suitor watches her. The flowers in his hand speak apparently aren't speaking loud enough of his love, as he continues to
